I decided it was time all the stories had a place to call home so they can keep each other company.

To any of you who have felt the effects of the tidal wave of hostility and bullying sweeping a certain section of the fandom over the past few weeks please know that this is still a safe place. Bullying and exclusionary behavior will not be tolerated here or on the FB page attached to this site. Anyone who wants to play nice is welcome. Haters will be grabbed by the scruff of the neck and tossed out the nearest window. This place has become a sanctuary for many and I will do my best to continue to enforce that standard.
Hugs, warm blankets, and hot cocoa to anyone who has come here feeling abused, disillusioned, or emotionally wounded. Rest assured you are in good company and are among friends.
Like several others, I have officially resigned from the SG fandom effective earlier this week in protest to the increasing negativity and hurtful behavior of a growing population of fans. Friendships have been destroyed. People have been verbally attacked. Cliques are being formed and many people deemed unworthy of being included. This isn't the fandom I know, nor is it one I intend to support. After all, SG fandom is supposed to be an escape from RL. If all it does is add drama then it ceases to serve any purpose at all.
It is my opinion that we are all fans of the same franchise and that commonality should be enough to allow EVERYONE to be included. Who you know is not relevant here...or at least it shouldn't be. Unfortunately, that is what the fandom is becoming so I will no longer be a part of it.
BUT before you get all upset thinking this means the end of the Lair, let me assure you that is not the case. I have made a few changes to the site and have carved the Jack/Daniel relationship out of the rest of the fandom and will maintain that piece. In my mind, Jack O'Neill has never been Richard Dean Anderson or Kurt Russell. Nor has Daniel Jackson ever been Michael Shanks or James Spader. There has always been a marked distinction between the behavior of these characters and the men who play them. Those still immersed in the fandom will testify that that distinction has never been starker than it is now.
Jack is Jack and Daniel is Daniel and in these pages they barely resemble their television counterparts. As the new series, Former Self, continues you will see that become even more obvious. So while I will be noticeably (or maybe not) absent from the SG fandom and have relinquished all other ties to the franchise I can still be found here playing with the boys. =) I hope you will do the same, but to any who have been so wounded and traumatized by recent actions that they have broken all ties to Stargate and have decided to go in a different direction I understand the decision. You will be missed and I hope you find comfort and healing in your new focus.
